Fort Augustus Substation Redevelopment

Fort Augustus Substation Redevelopment

Project Status: Ongoing

Project Overview: Fort Augustus is an existing Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) 400/275/132kV substation. The substation redevelopment is a multimillion-pound project which involves the construction of a second 132kV double busbar and 400kV double busbar, interconnected by two 480MVA 400/132kV supergrid transformers. A 132kV building and 400kV building are to be constructed to house the Gas Insulated switchgear (GIS) which will be connected to the existing circuits within the operational substation. The project has been undertaken to facilitate a firm connection from the Bhlaraidh and Beinneun wind farms.

Role: Project Planner contracted to Amey on behalf of the GE Amey consortium. The role involved developing and maintaining the civil and primary electrical design, installation and commissioning programme, whilst integrating the secondary design and switchgear procurement programme supplied by GE. This was an NEC3 option A contract.
